Hot Rolled Steel
Hot Rolled Steel
Hot rolled unprocessed sheet steel (commonly referred to as a hot band) is supplied as a coil directly off a hot strip mill with no additional processing. Hot rolled steel is for applications where the surface, shape or flatness is not critical. Hot rolled steel is generally available in gauges between .055" to .625" in widths between 36" and 72" X Coil. Heavier gauges are cut to length into sheets and are generally referred to as hot rolled plate.
Typical characteristics of hot rolled steel include a mill edge (rounded edge that is not consistent), scale adhering to the surface of the steel produced during the slab reheating stage and coil and tail ends that may have thickness variations.

- Conversion to hot rolled pickled and oiled or cold rolled
- Hot rolled purlins
